Childhood only comes once. And that inspires us.
We are essentially a group of people working to make childhood a happy experience to all children. We work in partnership with both research and experience, that is to say we bring the theory and practice together. We know behaviors won’t change relying only on extended academic essays and large training sessions. We change behaviors when we are emotionally connected. When we take our part in the story. And we know how to do it.
This book is the result of the immense generosity of many people: a handful of love. And children don’t require much more. They just need to be with, to play with, to discover with, to take risks with… the best company around. And again. And again.
The memories of Eunice Muñoz, Rita Blanco, Sérgio Godinho and Paul Auster, the words of Catarina Poeiras, and the drawings of Ricardo Paula bring us back to our own childhood.
And in the end, it is clear that this bonding, our own corner stone, is founded on daily routines and their breaking every now and then!
CATARINA POEIRAS
She likes children, colors, morning lights, reading, creating and cooking for friends. She is known to leave letters hanging all over her home, all over the streets, all over the world. She practices happiness.
She teaches Portuguese and Creative Writing.
RICARDO PAULA
Ricardo is quick to awake emotions. He’s attentive, creative and full of childhood. We knocked on a generous door that led us into a blue bright day. Amongst papers, brushes, charcoal, and acrylics… there is no room for tight protocols. He paints like a grand genius that knows and understands the value of what is simple and true. There are no wrong scribbles, children are simple genuine.
Books
We essentially work with the senses, where each child’s curiosity is challenged in daily routines. This book celebrates exactly that - building memories. And we are led to question what memories we want to help building.
Francisca Carneiro, Centro Infantil Maria de Monserrate
This is a time to explore books and awaken children’s interest for reading. This book takes us back to the family and daily life, to our memories, to what makes us grow or to what we like to do.
Maria Cóias, Centro Infantil Maria de Monserrate
This book makes us want to go back in time. Do our children already grasp the importance of those moments in their future life and growth? Primary school children can explore these contents in different activities guided by their teacher. These activities can cross any curricular subject leading to a meaningful learning experience at these tender ages. Maybe we can begin with those magical words in this book. And then build up sentences! Can we start with just small sentences?
Patrícia Rodrigues, Externato “O Barquinho”
This book dwells on several parenthood issues that are relevant to a healthy and positive development of children. This book talks namely about safety and basic care, emotional comfort, stimulating, guiding and boundaries and stability. All these ingredients foster child development. Childhood is once upon a lifetime, and memories are defining elements as they reveal who were and who we are.
